Franz Liszt, born in Hungary in 1811, was considered by the age of six to be a prodigy. Liszt, a complex composer who is regarded by many as the greatest piano player of all time, was condemned and not taken seriously by many of the critics of his time. He came to influence many composers and was not truly appreciated until many years after his death in 1886. He was a great performer and showman who appealed to the masses, and was the first to perform a solo piano recital where he turned his piano sideways to enhance the complete concert experience for his audience. Two of his more familiar works are "Liebestraume" and "Hungarian Rhapsodies". Some of his works were also featured in Hollywood's earlier films, one of which was "Flash Gordon" where his composition, "Les Preludes", was used. Franc Liszt was truly a classical music sensation of all time!
